How Did The Jesus Film Project Influence a Nation? Giving.

It seems there weren’t many atheists at the end among the Chilean miners. God got a lot of glory in the speeches about answered prayer. The miners were able to hear the Jesus Film audio & a Spanish language recording of the New Testament during their burial time. This is the article from CNN: The Story Behind the Chilean Miners Jesus T-shirts

Here’s how a staff member at Campus Crusade For Christ, which runs The Jesus Film Project, told the story:

Probably you watched on TV the rescue of the Chilean miners and maybe you noticed a tan T-shirt they were wearing.  Those T-shirts are a gift from Campus Crusade for Christ Chile.

Many, many gifts were offered to the trapped miners from many sources, but only a few were accepted by them and sent down.  One gift they chose to accept while in the mine was an MP3 player and the AUDIO version of the JESUS film which the miners listened to over several days while down there.  Of the gifts accepted, the miners chose, over all of them, to wear the T-shirt from Campus Crusade when they came out of the hole.  Nearly all off the miners were wearing this tan T-shirt over their green coveralls when they emerged from the mine.  On the right sleeve was the CCC logo and name.  On the left sleeve was the word JESUS.  On the front of the shirt and ABOVE the Chilean flag were the words  “Gracias Senor” (which means “Thank you Lord”) and, in  English, “Thank You Lord”!!!   On the back of the shirt was a verse, in Spanish, from Psalm 95:4 which said,

“In His hands are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.” Below that verse in big letters was the phrase “De El, es la Honra y la Gloria” which translates “To God be the glory and honor”.
