The Story of Hope’s Heart

By Judy Williams

When God called our family to begin a ministry to China’s orphans, we were stepping into untreaded territory. He had placed within us a definite call, passion and desire, but the logistics remained to be determined, at least for us – not for Him. God had already prepared the first link that would start us on this new journey: Servant Christian Community Foundation.

From our first meeting with SCCF, we recognized the perfect fit of what had been ordained in the heart of God. We were introduced and quickly connected to a staff who worked from a position of true servanthood and sincerity of heart. Paramount in their service was the desire to see God’s people fulfilling the mission of kingdom ministry, and the SCCF staff was open and available as a key resource to see that happen. Hope’s Heart Orphan Foundation was beginning to take shape.

The ensuing months and now years have exhibited continuing dedication by SCCF to serve Hope’s Heart. We have gleaned from their expertise through training seminars in the arenas of ministry development and donor relations. They have enlarged opportunities of creative funding by way of non-cash donation acceptance, management and liquidation. Connections and relationship building have been included in some of the benefits of our partnership. SCCF has also served our ministry by handling administrative responsibilities such as receipting donors, issuing grants and financial investing and oversight. These services free us to remain focused on the mission and daily ministry of Hope’s Heart to ‘serve orphans with a passion to enrich their lives.’

As a ministry, Hope’s Heart realizes we have yet to tap into the full wealth of knowledge, expertise and resources that Servant Christian Community Foundation has to offer. Yet, we recognize the tremendous impact they have had as Hope’s Heart was birthed and throughout our three and a half years of serving the orphans of China. SCCF has ministered to us in practical, tangible ways as well as through encouragement, prayer and example. We have received tremendous blessing by becoming acquainted with other ministries at SCCF’s annual Passion Award banquet, and through the opportunity to submit grant proposals and be a recipient of these grants. God is faithful, and He is using SCCF as a tool in His hands to serve Hope’s Heart Orphan Foundation.
